Shortly after her re-election to the post of Municipal Advisor in Opfikon-Glattbrugg, in the constituent meeting of the municipal parliament, where the governing bodies of this institution are elected, Qëndresa Sadriu reaches by majority of votes to be elected as Chairperson of the Municipal Parliament in the Municipality Opfikon, in the Canton of Zurich.

Being the first Albanian to be head of such an institution, in a pronouncement on Albinfo.ch, Qëndresa is very grateful to all who enabled her to reach this point. It also promotes greater participation in elections by people with a background of migration.

"It's hard to figure out exactly how many eligible Albanians in Switzerland have voted for me this time because of data protection, but one thing is pretty certain that their numbers have risen sharply compared to the elections preliminary. "

She also believes that people from different countries of origin and residing in Switzerland should be more active, not necessarily only in politics, as well as in many areas of life, such as work, sports and humanitarian activities, because it enables a better coexistence between cultures and avoids misunderstandings or prejudices for each other. So we can live as one, without having to look at the country of origin.

Qëndresa Sadriu has been part of the political life in her municipality and beyond as a 19 year old girl when she was elected as an advisor to the Municipal Assembly from the Social Democratic Party (SP).

In 2015 she had also run for deputies in the Swiss National Parliament. Though he did not achieve the goal, he had won the most votes among other Albanian candidates.

The candidacy for the National Parliament for the Center has been a very good experience, but she believes she will try to run again for the post of national MP, says Qëndresa for albinfo.ch.

Qëndresa has completed the profession as a dental assistant, then graduates, and this year begins studies in social sciences at PH (High School of Pedagogy) in Zurich, and also in September of this year she starts practicing in the association humanitarian, "Sozialwerke Pfarrer Sieber".

Opfikon is part of the Bülach District, as well as one of the 166 municipalities in the Canton of Zurich, and has over 15,000 inhabitants./albinfo.ch
