Emilia Conforti has jealously guarded the Albanian language, as well as many other Arbëreshe people of Italy for centuries.
She is a co-worker at the University of Calabria, where she also conducted research, whereas she was previously engaged in the University of Prishtina.
In an interview with KosovaPress, Conforti indicates that the language of the Arber continues to be spoken in Albanian families who moved to southern Italy after the death of Skanderbeg, five centuries ago.
According to her, Arbëreshë people have borrowed many words from Italian, but with Albanian suffixes. She says that if an Arbëresh and an Albanian want to communicate together, they can without a problem. Besides language, she shows that Arbëreshë people have maintained Albanian traditions as well.
